アメリカの大手テレビメディア・BETが、「BET HipHop Awards 2024」の受賞者を発表。Kendrick Lamarが11部門にノミネートされ、8部門で受賞を収め大きな注目を集めた。

BET Hip Hop Awardsは、アメリカのブラック・エンターテインメント・テレビジョン（BET）が主催する、ヒップホップ業界における最も権威ある音楽賞の一つ。2006年に創設されてから毎年行われており、ヒップホップ・アーティストやプロデューサー、ソングライターなど、ヒップホップ文化に貢献した人物を表彰する。主要な賞には「ヒップホップアーティスト・オブ・ザ・イヤー」や「ソング・オブ・ザ・イヤー」「リリシスト・オブ・ザ・イヤー」など、さまざまなカテゴリーで贈られ、受賞者は業界での影響力やヒット曲、革新性などによって選ばれる。ヒップホップの最新トレンドを反映し、アフリカ系アメリカ人アーティストの業績を広く紹介する場となっている。2024年10月15日（火）に全米で放送され、ホストを務めたのは3年連続でFat Joe、会場はラスベガスのDrai’s Nightclubで、多くのスターが集結した。

今回Kendrick Lamarが最も注目を集め、11部門ノミネートの中「ヒップホップアーティスト・オブ・ザ・イヤー」や「ソング・オブ・ザ・イヤー」を含む8つの賞を獲得した。
そのほかに、この夜の大きなハイライトのひとつは、ヒューストン出身のTravis Scottが「I Am Hip Hop Award」を受賞したことだ。受賞スピーチでScottは、「僕たちはヒップホップの枠外にいると言われてきたが、毎日このサウンドを進化させようと努力してきた」と語った。

会場ではアーティストによるLIVEパフォーマンスも次々と行われ、出演者には、2 Chainz、310babii、Big Boogie、GloRilla、Bossman Dlow、E-40、Juicy J、「All the Way Turnt Up」のコラボレーターであるSoulja BoyとRoscoe Dash、さらにマイアミの305地区代表としてTrinaとYung Miamiが参加し、ステージを盛り上げた。
2024年のBETヒップホップアワードは、2006年以降、アトランタ以外で開催されるのは4回目となる。
